Root Cause

Program Areas

The work of Public Innovators is organized into three overarching areas:

1) Thinking & Dialogue—Public Innovators is committed to expanding the breadth and depth of information available about government support for entrepreneurial solutions to pressing social problems. We develop research reports and case studies, and organize convenings that both educate government and demonstrate best practices. With the Louisiana Office of Social Entrepreneurship and others, we will be convening stakeholders from all three sectors across the country culminating in a national conference in the fall of 2009 to share best practices and lessons learned. To learn more, visit our publications and calendar pages.

2) Knowledge Sharing & Community Building
—The Public Innovators website acts as a hub for information and dialogue, offering a public forum in which users can share knowledge, add new ideas, and join a community of results-oriented public service professionals. It provides research findings and recommendations, case studies, news and events, hosted blog, and more.

3) Practice & Institution Building—Above all, Public Innovators is committed to ensuring that great ideas are put into practice. Building on Root Cause's strategy consulting practice and our own research, Public Innovators offers its unique expertise to government officials seeking to better support social entrepreneurship. We are currently developing the business plan for the nation's first Office of Social Entrepreneurship in Louisiana, and have begun work in Virginia in partnership with the Phoenix Project.  Learn more about our work in Louisiana by downloading an overview of the office's mission and model.
